Hello, my name is Valerie Cotton,

I am happily married to my husband Tim Cotton for 34 years as of May 3, 2020, we have 3 wonderful sons. We all love the Florida life style, swimming, fishing, kayaking and scuba diving. My hobbies are kayaking and running primarily. Yet anyone who knows me , knows I love being outdoors espeically out on the water. I grew up in Floral Park N.Y. and summered in Roxbury/Breezy point N.Y. .I came to Florida in 1981,to go to college, I attended Ringling School of Art and Design. Currently, I am a working artist as well as an art teacher. My favorite medium is acrylic paint, favorite subject matter is wild life.  This year I learned a new form of art, by using metal. Metal such as stainless steel or aluminum which can be colored with paint or fire (using the torch) to paint is really cool... :)

Teaching experience: I have taught at various local pre-schools in florida, I also assisted families in teaching at Head Start of Sarasota before coming to VES. My first teaching assignment was with our wonderful ESE pre-school students here at Vineland. Being an Art major, I was thrilled to be givien the Art Teacher position here at Vineland! I have taught Visual Art eduation at VES for 17 years, including my ESE yearss combined it has been 20 fun filled years here at VES.  I am  Loving every minute of it !
