House Bill 1537 amended Section 1012.585, Florida Statutes (F.S.), requiring educators that hold a certification coverage in Educational Leadership (Level I) or School Principal (Level II) with a certification expiration date of June 30, 2025, or thereafter, to earn 1 college credit or 20 in-service points in the Florida Educational Leadership Standards. The new educational leadership in-service points requirement is not adding to the current 120 inservice points requirement but rather specifying that a portion of the learning school leaders receive is aligned to the leadership standards, or what school leaders should know and be able to do.
